One moron at the DCCC recruited Frick to run in CA-48 (the Orange County coastal district) against Dana Rohrabacher. And then DC said "no, no, no; we want Frack; we must have Frack." So everyone was stuck with two candidates, 2 centrists who were both endorsed by the New Dems. The DCCC worked hard to persuade other Democrats, particularly self-funders Gil Cisneros and Ma-Khanh Tran, to run somewhere else; both ran in CA-39 instead, although both live in CA-48.
Mike Crapo's Senate bill to roll back a huge chunk of Dodd Frank passed the House Tuesday, 258-159. Only one Republican voted against it.
Yesterday Politico began the day with couple of paragraphs detailing how normalized corruption has become in The Swamp. And, yes, of course there's never been as huge and as toxic a swamp as the Trump swamp. "YES, guys like Michael Cohen routinely get paid amounts like $1.2 million to offer insights about their boss or former boss. Yeah, it’s crazy.
Ken Langone, the Long Island vulture capitalist who put together part of the money for the founders of Home Depot, has a current net worth of something around $3 billion. He'll be 83 before the midterms and he's doing all he can to disadvantage progressives with his money. Generally, he gives contributions to Republicans but he's fine with conservative, Wall Street-friendly Democrats too.
The DCCC and the New DemsNo one in their right mind is ever going to call Rick Santorum a liberal, or even a moderate, but he can't fool himself any longer about Señor T having any kind of relationship with Truth. The day after the Washington Post's Fact Checker announced that Trump had told 3,001 lies since taking office Santorum told CNN that Trump's a liar (but that Obama was a worse liar).
This morning David Siders started a column with a fair assumption for Politico readerts-- that Maryland Congressman is "little known." Few people even know he's running for president-- and few of those are taking his run seriously.
Rahm Emanuel was chairman of the DCCC in 2006, the last time there was a huge Blue Wave. He had as little to do with creating it as Ben Ray Lujan has in creating the 2018 huge Blue Wave (i.e., nothing whatsoever). Infact, Lujan, like Rahm (who consults him), is keeping the wave from growing even bigger. In 2006, the Democrats picked up 30 seats from the GOP. That's good, right?Well... kinda/sorta.
The rock-solid set of principles the Democratic Party once stood for has weakened... a lot. Thank Bill Clinton and his transactional politics for a lot of that. Choice doesn't matter, nor does marriage equality, unions, the legitimate aspirations of working families. The DCCC is out recruiting NRA allies.
