On 5th September 2017, during his press conference at the latest BRICS summit in China, President Putin of Russia unexpectedly announced a proposal for the UN Security Council to organise a lightly armed force of peacekeepers to provide protection to observers from the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe) who are patrolling the contact line between the militia in the Donbass and the Ukrainian army.

CONFIRMED: US allies oppose new Russian sanctions

The Foreign Ministry of Germany and the Chancellor of Austria have released a joint statement condemning new anti-Russian sanctions which were recently passed by the US Senate by a majority of 98 to 2. Only Rand Paul on the libertarian right of the Republican party and Bernie Sanders on the vocalist left of the Democratic party voted against the measures. Interestingly, both men were candidates in the primaries of the 2016 US Presidential election.

Angry Putin tells Merkel Ukraine’s Minsk peace process is all but dead
