Cashing in on Russia’s Woes

I was always dismissed as a ‘Sov symp’ in the days of communism, attracted by the Soviet Union’s great foreign policy: anti-imperialist, ant-zionist, pro-nuclear disarmament, pro-liberation movements, etc, etc. I could never understand why lefties didn’t fall in love with the only real non-capitalist modern society. It worked, however badly. It had to be at the heart of the struggle against capitalism, imperialism.

US govt-funded Coda Story smears American journalists who undermine new Cold War propaganda

With backing from the US government’s regime-change arm, an Operation Mockingbird-style website called Coda Story is attacking American journalists who have punctured Washington’s sensationalist narratives against China. By Ben Norton A shadowy neoconservative website called Coda Story has launched a smear campaign against American journalists who challenge new cold war propaganda. But what this publication […]

Putin and Russia, the World’s “Heartland”

Russia has always fascinated me–the mystical orthodox faith brought to Kievan Rus in the ninth century, the stern heroes who defended Muscovy against the Golden Horde in the 13–15th centuries,  the vast spaces, the remarkable literature of Pushkin and Tolstoy, the Bolshevik Revolution against imperialism … The West has always been a bit jealous of its proud race of genius.

Real Russian Interference in US Politics Is Not What You Think

Russian interference in American politics is totally welcome so long as it helps turn public opinion against “multipolar” Putin. (CN Op-ed) — The Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union was ostensibly a conflict between two ideologies and two socio-economic systems. All that seems to be over. The day of a new socialism may dawn […]

Is There a Plot to Expel Russia from UN Security Council?

Senator Sergei Kalashnikov of the Federation Council of the Russian Duma claims that the West has launched an operation to expel Russia from the United Nations Security Council.

MOSCOW, March 14 (Itar-Tass) – RIA Novosti. The West launched a powerful operation to remove Russia from the UN Security Council as an uncomfortable player for them, hence all the “rolls” on our country, first deputy head of the economic committee of the Council of Federation Sergey Kalashnikov told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

Protests today in Russia called by Khodorkovsky were a damp squib

A few weeks ago protests in Russia called by the Western-backed ‘liberal’ opposition activist and blogger Alexey Navalny attracted a disproportionate amount of attention in the Western media.  This was despite the fact that the turnout in those protests – probably in the region of 15-20,000 people across the whole country (not the 60,000 people the ‘liberal opposition’ itself claims) – was hardly impressive.
Since then there have been two other attempts to stage more such protests.

5 steps to becoming a western approved Russian ‘opposition leader’

With the eyes of the anti-Russian western mainstream media focused on Alexei Navalny’s latest antics in Moscow, it seems appropriate to discuss just what constitutes a ‘Russian opposition leader’ in the eyes of western mainstream media pundits who are both misinformed themselves and seek to pass that misinformation on to their declining audience.
With this in mind here are 5 ways to become a Russian opposition leader….in the eyes of the west.
1. Don’t Be An Actual Opposition Leader
