Geo-politically important Sri Lanka is among several countries, including Syria, under scrutiny at the 25th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva (March 3-28).

A leading Uncle Tom Tamil, Tamara Kunanayakam, will perhaps be once again heading the Sri Lankan government’s case for itself at the 25th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC), March 3-28, when a resolution critical of the government for human rights abuses against Tamils will be introduced.

The government of Palestine presented Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa with the “Star of Palestine” the highest award of the State of Palestine, on January 6.
“The relations between Sri Lanka and the State of Palestine are exceptional and we remain committed to extending our fullest support to the State of Palestine and the friendly people of Palestine,” President Rajapaksa said during the conferment ceremony.
