(ANTIWAR.COM) Adding to the growing civilian death toll caused by US airstrikes in Iraq and Syria, the US overnight attacked the Syrian border town of Abu Kamal, along the key Iraqi border crossing, killing at least 30 civilians in the process.

(ANTIWAR.COM) On March 17, US airstrikes leveled three buildings in Mosul’s Old City, killing hundreds of civilians within. The official death toll is still not totally clear, but all told was well in excess of 200, and close to 300 according to some accounts. The Pentagon version is that they were responsible for 14 deaths.

(ANTIWAR) At least 4,033 were killed in Iraq during April, and another 629 were wounded. These figures include a U.S. servicemember, who was killed near Mosul this week. In March, 3,330 people were killed, and another 929 were wounded.

(ANTIWAR) Two US soldiers were killed overnight and a third was wounded in fighting against ISIS forces in the Achin District of Nangarhar Province. This is the same area in which the US earlier this month launched the MOAB “Mother of All Bombs” strike.

(MEE) Three Yemeni civilians were killed when a drone attacked four suspected al-Qaeda militants travelling in a vehicle in the southern part of the country, residents and a local official said on Monday.

(ANTIWAR) Coalition officials in Afghanistan are promising an investigation after troops were sent to Helmand Province to detonate a arsenal of weapons belonging to the Taliban. The ensuing explosion badly damaged nearby homes, and killed at least nine civilians, six of them children.

(ANTIWAR) Facing growing criticism over an attack earlier this month that killed hundreds of civilians in Mosul, the Pentagon today confirmed that it has video footage of ISIS forcing hundreds of civilians into the destroyed buildings, which they presented as “provoking the attack.”

(ANTIWAR) Iraqi security officials have confirmed an airstrike carried out by apparent US coalition warplanes against the western half of the city of Mosul killed at least 11 civilians and wounded four others. The Pentagon has thus far not commented at all on the report.

(ANTIWAR) Continuing a string of regular drone strikes against targets in rural Yemen dating back to last week, US drones today attacked and killed a pair of young boys on a road outside the village of Yakla. There were no indications any combatants were anywhere near the targeted spot.

(ANTIWAR) The Pentagon latest official accounting of civilians killed in US airstrikes in Iraq and Syria follows the same formula as all of the previous reports, admitting to just a tiny fraction of the number of civilians known to be killed, and leaving the overall toll laughably below the estimates by interested NGOs.
