According to the BBC, the US decision to walk away from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty has significant consequences for the future of arms control, for perceptions of the US and its approach to the world – but also for strategic competition between both the US and Russia on one hand, and Washington and Beijing on the other.
The Baltic states have come to an agreement with the EU Commission on a plan to desynchronize the Baltic power network from Russia at a meeting which took place on the sidelines of the European Council Summit this past week in Brussels. They envision the laying of further power lines in an under sea route through the Baltic.

Exercise “Saber Strike 2017” – NATO’s most recent wargame – wrapped up Friday. Here’s how the US army described the event:
(ANTIWAR) US Army Lt. Col Steven Gventer, yesterday announced that the United States will be leading a battalion of NATO troops on a deployment into northeastern Poland, beginning in early April, as the latest in a string of NATO deployments “in response” to Russia’s 2014 annexation of Crimea.
(ANTIWAR) While US Army officials insist no specific decision has been made on any new deployments, officials familiar with the situation say that the Army has begun seeking sites for new bases in Europe, with a pair of locations in Northern Germany having already been scouted.
(ANTIWAR) Adding to the ever-growing number of US military deployments into Eastern Europe, the Army announced over the weekend that the US will send some 1,000 US troops and vehicles to Orzysy, a town in northeastern Poland, another deployment done as part of the huge “spearhead” force against Russia.
