The House passed the $2.2 trillion Wall Street bailout, filled with goodies for corporate America, by voice vote today-- but not before Trump lost his shit on Twitter this morning when someone told him Thomas Massie (R-KY) had decided to force a roll call vote.

About a month ago, we mentioned that Dan Levitin's new book, Successful Aging was about to be released. And now it is-- and #2 on the best seller list. This week he did an OpEd for the Wall Street Journal, A neuroscientist says these are the ideal ages for the optimal presidential ticket.

If the old maxim is true that absolute power corrupts absolutely, then California Democrats have a very real problem. As the power and legitimacy of the GOP has waned, Democrats have seized control of a supermajority in the state, with both hands.

Today is Presidents' Day... but we'll forgo taking about that until we have a legitimate president in the White House again and, instead, say a few words about the legislative branch of government that was created with the power to check a possible tyrant in the White House.

AOC has 6.2 million Twitter followers, compared with 3.8 million for Speaker Nancy Pelosi and 1.3 million for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. People appear to be interested in what AOC has to say.

Pelosi's designated heir, Hakeem Jeffries of New York, was the last person to co-sponsor Pramila Jayapal's Medicare for All legislation (H.R. 1384). He was number 118 on the list of co-sponsors.

The Republican wing of the Democratic PartyHouse Democrats have a long, ugly history of choosing the worst among them as their leaders. The excuse has always been that the best among them have been too busy working on policy to get into the money-chase and grubby bare-knuckle politics that Democrats have used to assess leadership ability.

Which way? The way Status Quo Joe and Mayo Pete (and Schumer, Pelosi and Hoyer) are pointing? Or the way Bernie, and to a lesser degree, Elizabeth (and AOC, Ro Khanna and Pramila Jayapal) are pointing? 2020 looks like a real cross roads for the Democratic Party and if the DNC is seen as stealing the nomination from Bernie again will that big tent be able to withstand the violence and depth of the rift?

It came as no surprise that New York would be losing a congressional seat after the census. Speculation in Albany over a year ago was that NY-27, a large rural district in the western part of the state-- then held by crooked Trumpist Chris Collins--  would be divided up between NY-26 (Buffalo- D+11), NY-25 (Rochester- D+8) and NY-23 (Southern Tier- R+6).
