Lendman: Hawkish John Bolton’s Anti-Trump Rage

By Stephen Lendman
From April 2018 – September 2019, Bolton was one of a cadre of militant Trump regime hawks — their extremist worldview dangerously over the top.
Bolton never met a sovereign nation independent of US control he didn’t want terror-bombed back to the stone age.
He and likeminded Pompeo support endless preemptive wars to feed the military, industrial, security, media complex, and gain unchallenged control over planet earth, its resources and populations.
Both figures aren’t ordinary hawks. Both favor resolving intractable foreign policies by war.
Both are militantly hostile toward all nations unwilling to subordinate their sovereign rights to US interests.
Both consider world peace, stability, and the rule of international, constitutional, and US statute laws obstructions to their rage for unchallenged dominance.
Both, and their likeminded subordinates, are mortal enemies of what just societies hold dear.
In earlier remarks, Bolton seemed to favor hot and cyberwar on Russia.
He called for wanting Putin to “hear the rumble of artillery and NATO tank tracks conducting (provocative military) exercises” along its border, perhaps ideally crossing into its territory.
He called nonexistent Russian US election meddling (a John Brennan invented Big Lie as Obama regime CIA director) a casus belli, a true act of war…”
He falsely accused Putin of lying to Trump — a longstanding US specialty, a Bolton specialty.
He called for “caus(ing) (Putin) pain,” urged no renewal of the landmark New START nuclear arms reduction agreement — along with confronting nonexistent Chinese “aggressiveness…shak(ing) up” Washington’s relationship with Beijing.”
He falsely accused Iran of pursing nuclear weapons, wanting the country bombed to stop its nonexistent bomb.
He infamously said “the only longterm way to deal with North Korea’s nuclear weapons program is to end (the) North.”
Sanctions aren’t good enough, he added, engaging with its officials diplomatically “a waste of time.”
He favors escalated conflicts in US war theaters, new ones launched, a permanent state of all-out war on humanity.
Interviewed by ABC News Sunday night on his book titled “The Room Where It Happened,” he dubiously claimed it contains “facts…not…theories or accusations or emotional responses.”
He called Trump’s foreign policy and defense strategy “(in)coherent (and) (in)competent,” admitting “these conclusions and thoughts” are his own.
He accused Trump of having no “guiding principle…no strategy, no philosophy…other than what’s good for (his) reelection.”
He criticized his national security policy. Calling it “very scatter shot,” he ignored what’s obvious.
Washington’s only adversaries/enemies are invented. No real ones exist.
There’s no justification for a bloated military budget, for wasting countless trillions of dollars on a global empire of bases, endless wars, and development of advanced super-weapons able to end life on earth if used in enough numbers.
No foreign danger to the republic exists, none for the past 75 years.
False claims otherwise are all about perpetually justifying what’s indisputably unjustifiable.
Accusations against Russia, China, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Cuba, and other nations independent of US control were and continue to be fabricated — to maintain a heightened readiness for warmaking and other hostile actions.
There’s plenty about Trump and his predecessors to criticize. The same goes for key officials advising them.
US domestic policy is all about benefitting corporate America and high-net-worth individuals at the expense of social justice, government serving all its people equitably.
Throughout US history, its geopolitical agenda has been all about expanding the nation “from sea to shining sea” — followed by seeking control over other nations worldwide, preemptive wars by hot and other means the favored strategy of its ruling class.
Trump is the latest in a long line of belligerent US presidents. According to Bolton, he’s not belligerent enough.
Not being tough enough on Russia, China, North Korea, and other countries is what Bolton called “missed opportunities,” adding:
“I think it became very clear to foreign leaders that they were dealing with a president who just wasn’t serious about many (important) issues, to our detriment as a country.”
By Bolton’s standards, Trump is too soft on invented US adversaries — even though he’s been at war in multiple theaters throughout his tenure from day one.
DJT is focused solely on getting reelected, Bolton claimed, ignoring “threats from China and Russia” — invented, not real, the same true for all nations on the US enemies list.
All countries not controlled by Washington are considered threats to its national security, according to the worldview of Bolton and likeminded hardliners.
All US presidents, congressional members, state and local officials prioritize reelection. It’s part of what politics is all about.
At the same time, Trump expanded the US military budget well beyond where his predecessors went.
He prioritizes enhancing the destructive capabilities of the Pentagon’s nuclear arsenal at a cost of trillions of dollars diverted from essential, long ignored, domestic needs.
Asked to sum up Trump’s foreign policy, Bolton claimed “I don’t think there is a policy” other than what enhances his legacy, adding:
“I think we’re in a weaker position around the world. I think we have given up leadership in a wide variety of areas.”
At the same time, Bolton praised Trump’s abandonment of the landmark JCPOA and INF treaty, two of his most shameful actions, making the world less stable and safe.
And of course the US war budget is never too big for hawks like Bolton and never enough wars on humanity to suit them.
Bolton’s Sunday interview and other public remarks aim to stimulate sales of his book.
It’s out on Tuesday for anyone to buy, a $2 million advance gotten for the publishing rights.
US District Judge Royce Lamberth’s refusal to block its release gave the book added publicity.
A pirated edition is available free online in PDF form, publisher Simon & Schuster saying it’s “working assiduously to take down these clearly illegal instances of copyright infringement.”
It tops the Amazon bestseller list. Various news organizations got advance copies, reports on its contents published.
For Trump, it’s another blow to his troubled reelection campaign, already trailing presumptive Dem nominee Biden by a substantial margin in polls.
Bolton is far from an impartial observer. He considers DJT “danger to the republic” for not being tough enough in dealings with Russia, China, and other nations free of US control.
“I don’t think he’s fit for office. I don’t think he has the competence to carry out the job,” Bolton said Sunday night.
If raging hawks like him and Pompeo ran things, the risk of nuclear war would be ominously real — instead of favoring a badly needed new era of world peace, stability, and mutual cooperation among all nations.
