Tehran: ‘We’ll respond to American and Israeli crimes in Syria’

Ali Akbar Velayati, the outspoken advisor to the Iranian leadership, has come out again warning the US and Israel about their repeated violations of Syrian airspace and sovereign territory. Velayati said that they should expect a response from Iran.
While Damascus and its allies are still tolerating the illegal US occupation of parts of northeastern Syria and the theft of Syrian oil, the issue of illegal Israeli airstrikes on targets inside Syria, many of them in civilian areas, also pulls neighboring Lebanon into the frame. Israel is also relying on the illegal use of Lebanese airspace in order to fire missiles into Syria, supposedly striking what Tel Aviv claims are ‘Hezbollah’ and ‘Iranian’ military targets in Syria, but in reality these attacks are designed to weaken Syrian defense capabilities and also to assist terrorist fighters operating inside Syria.
These repeated incursions by Israel and the US, along with increasingly stern condemnations and threats from both sides, could indicate that a wider military conflict may indeed manifest itself in the near future.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:30 P.M.) – The adviser to the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran on international affairs, Ali Akbar Velayati, said on Tuesday that Israel will sooner or later receive a response to its attacks in Syria.
Velayati said that the “unlawful Israeli attacks in the region cannot pass without a response.”
The Iranian official said Israel will “regret its crimes” as “the resistance in Syria and Lebanon will respond to the American and Israeli crimes,” adding that “Hezbollah will deal with Israel from its soil if it attacks Lebanon,” the Fars News Agency reported.
He said that Israel is weak and does not dare to implement its threats against Iran, and the statements of its officials in this regard are “mere propaganda.”
On Sunday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched a new attack on the capital city of  Damascus, targeting the southern suburb of Aqraba.
While the Syrian air defenses were able to shoot down some of the projectiles, a source from the military said at least three IDF missiles managed to hit their intended targets in Damascus.
