Cook notes that Democratic leaders chose meeting locations distant from the progressive hotbeds of Eureka and Arcata, in Crescent City and Santa Rosa. He hopes people will organize and show up in numbers.
And PBC notes that this is a critical moment for the left in California, with a new governor, a budget surplus just revised by an additional $6 billion, and Democratic supermajorities in both houses. Many incumbents are moderate, corporate Dems who need to be pressed to act by the grassroots.
