Syrian Army Vows Revenge for 20 Soldiers Killed in Jihadist Attack

The last week has seen a new trend developing in northern Syria, whereby terrorist commando units are infiltrating deep into government-held Syrian territory in order to mount deadly raids taking out military positions and killing Syrian and allied personnel.
This development coincides with the recent announcement by al Nusra rebrand, Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) that it has now unified all militant groups in Idlib under one unified command and control structure.
By allowing Idlib to become a de facto Islamic State and a terrorist haven, means that Damascus its defense coalition allies can only expect regular incursions and asymmetric attacks by terrorists special ops teams like we have witnessed this week in Northern Hama and Latakia. The occupiers in Idlib are happy to carry on with this strategy indefinitely and have the tacit support of Washington, London and Paris – all three of whom have vehemently opposed Syrian-led efforts to cleanse this region of terrorists factions, with the Western powers claiming that such an operation would result tremendous loss of life and trigger new wave of refugees. This one-sided Western policy has allowed terrorists to fortify their positions, expand their underground tunnel networks and continue to use the population as human shields.
With pressure building on both sides of a fragile ceasefire line, how long can this deteriorating situation persist before full SAA combat operations to retake Idlib resume?
The latest terrorist raid has prompted calls of retribution from Damascus.
