Owner of Truck with F**K Trump Sticker Arrested in Texas

The owner of the truck with a “Fuck Trump and fuck you for voting for him” sticker has been arrested.
PINAC broke the story yesterday yesterday after Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy E. Nehls posted a message to Facebook, along with a photo of the truck, saying he was looking for the driver of the truck sporting the profane message on a sticker in the rear window.

“I have received numerous calls regarding the offensive display on this truck as it is often seen along FM 359. If you know who owns this truck or it is yours, I would like to discuss it with you. Our Prosecutor has informed us she would accept Disorderly Conduct charges regarding it, but I feel we could come to an agreement regarding a modification to it,” the post read before Sheriff Nehls decided to delete it, claiming he received threats to his family.
It turns out, the owner of the truck, Karen Fonseca, worked for the sheriff in the past at the county jail.
Now, Fonseca has been arrested for an outstanding warrant from August.
Karen Fonseca was arrested after Sheriff Troy E. Nehls posted to Facebook, saying a Fort Bend County Prosecutor agreed to accept disorderly conduct charges against her for a “Fuck Trump” sticker posted to the back of her truck.
A spokeswoman for the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office said they received a tip about the warrant, according to ABC13.
Mike Fonseca, Karen’s husband, says she was arrested at their Stafford home in front of her 6-year-old daughter.
He questions the timing.
“I think it’s the sticker,” he said during an interview outside the Fort Bend County Jail.
Earlier today Fort Bend County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Caitlin Espinosa said Sheriff Nehls was no longer commenting on the matter following threats to his wife and children after the post went viral on social and news media–a common line police use after statements that cause backlash.
However, the department did not provide proof of any threats.
Espinosa also said the the sheriff was no longer looking for the owner of the truck.
But Sheriff Nehls is talking now, saying it wasn’t about silencing political speech he didn’t agree with.
Instead, the sheriff claims the post that caused so much backlash for his department and prompted threats to his family was all about arresting Fonseca.
Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy E. Nehls.
“The Facebook post accomplished its objective and now we know who owns the truck,” he said.
In an interview earlier today with ABC13, Karen Fonseca said she put the custom made sticker on the back of her truck about 11 months ago, shortly after Trump was elected, saying her family was merely expressing their First Amendment right and voicing their dismay with President Donald Trump.
She said she was surprised Sheriff Nehls was unable to reach her through any other means and that she was open to meeting with him.
Fonseca stated she had no plans to remove the sign.
“It makes people happy. They smile. They stop you.”
“They want to shake your hand.”
Fonseca said her biggest issue with Donald Trump is his promise to build a border wall.
After PINAC broke the story yesterday, the ACLU posted to Facebook in a message directed at Sheriff Nehls.
“No, Sheriff Troy E. Nehls, you can’t prosecute speech just because it contains words you don’t like,” the ACLU wrote.
“The owner of this truck should contact the ACLU of Texas.”
According to records, Fonseca’s is accused of fraud.
She’s expected to be released after posting her bond, which is set at $1,500.
As of now, no reports have surfaced about the identity of the prosecutor who agreed to charge Fonseca with disorderly conduct for the profane on her truck.
According to their website, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office can be reached at (281) 341-4704.
