A supervisor for the F.B.I.’s counterterrorism unit has his Glock .40-caliber handgun, a $6,000 Rolex watch and some cash stolen by an exotic dancer after a night of drinking at the Westin hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina.
FBI division chief Robert Manson met the exotic dancer at the hotel on July 9 after a night of drinking and awoke the next day to find his property missing.
“Investigators determined that the victim, Robert Manson, met a woman in the hotel bar the prior night and took her back to his hotel room,” Robert Tufano, spokesman for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, said on Thursday.
So, far no arrests have been made, according to the New York Post.
And officers have not yet recovered the gun.
Manson is in charge of overseeing all terrorism related investigations within the Midwest and the Carolinas.
Manson was in Charlotte for continued training along with other senior agents who told police they’d been drinking with women who were exotic dancers.
At around 6:30 a.m. the next morning, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers were called to the hotel where they found Manson incapacitated from drinking alcohol, according to the police report, which Manson didn’t file himself.
F.B.I. agent Kevin Thurman gave the report to police, stating the theft occurred sometime between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.
The hotel bar at Westin closes at 2 a.m.
In the police report, the gun was identified as an easily concealable Glock 27.
Federal law allows agents to carry concealed weapons while off-duty, but forbids it while they’re intoxicated.
According to F.B.I. rules, agents are prohibited from leaving their guns in unsecure places.
At the Westin hotel, every room is equipped with a safe.
The report, which can be read below, contains few details.
It does not mention that Manson works for the F.B.I. and only identifies the the thief as an “unknown suspect.”
According to spokesperson Tufano, Manson “was not acting in a law enforcement capacity at the time of the incident.”
F.B.I. Spokesman Michael P. Kortan declined to comment, saying it was the subject of an internal investigation.
