EX-FBI Director James Comey’s Senate Testimony Just Leaked

The much-anticipated testimony caused CNN to place a countdown clock on their website, reminiscent of sports television’s gameday countdowns, but this leak removes much of the mystery from tomorrow’s public appearance by the former FBI Director.
Former FBI Director James Comey’s seven-page prepared testimony to the US Senate Intelligence Committee has been made publicly available on their website (embedded below) almost 24 hours in advance of the hearing.
In a detailed recollection, the FBI Director noted the intensity of his contact in just a few months during the Trump Administration.
The lengthy testimony highlights the persistent nature of contacts about the criminal investigations into the Trump Administration and into the President’s associates and it explains why Donald Trump wrote that the FBI Director had told him personally three times that he was not under investigation.
However, it highlights that the FBI Director and numerous federal officials whom President Trump requested to go public and announce that there was no investigation into him personally

The FBI and the Department of Justice had been reluctant to make public statements that we did not have an open case on President Trump for a number of reasons, most importantly because it would create a duty to correct, should that change.

James Comey’s testimony also answers numerous questions about his handling of the investigations into the Trump presidential campaign and sheds light on the President’s demands from the FBI Director, and multiple private meetings and phone calls.
He says the President demanded loyalty and asked to shut down a felony investigation into the former National Security Advisor.
Similarly, President Richard Nixon was caught on tape confirming to his Chief of Staff that a plan to request the CIA to shut down the FBI’s Watergate investigation be approved.
That was considered an impeachable offense but Nixon resigned before Congress could act.
Former FBI Director Comey’s testimony is set to begin at 9 am tomorrow, and he will take questions from the US Senate Intelligence Committee after entering these prepared remarks into the Congressional record.
