Times Square Driver US Navy Vet who "heard voices"

Though the accused has two previous arrests for DWI?I've been staying away from these incidents, however, drivers plowing over pedestrians is getting to be quite the repetitive occurrence- Just an observation.  Germany, France, Australia. Off the top of my head that's all I can recall, refresh my memory if there has been more? Toronto looks to be ripe for the picking..The driver is ex military. PTSD? Drunk Driving? Something else entirely? I don't know? The thought of these self driving/ self parking, easily commandeered cars just keeps rolling over in my mindLink- Car hacking is not the future, sorry to say, it's present day.

But what the pair discovered is that if the attacker’s message is sent first, with the correct counter, then the real message gets ignored. And if the next message is one further incremented, then the system never fully goes into lockdown, allowing the attacker to control the car: they can turn the steering wheel, hit the gas or slam on the brakes at any speed.

A man steered his car onto a sidewalk running through the heart of Times Square and mowed down pedestrians for three blocks Thursday, killing a teenager, then emerged from his wrecked vehicle wild-eyed and waving his arms before he was subdued by police and bystanders. The carnage raised immediate fears of a terrorist attack, but investigators quickly turned their focus to the sobriety and mental health of the driver, identified as Bronx resident Richard Rojas. The driver, a 26-year-old U.S. Navy veteran, told officers he was hearing voices and expected to die, according to two law enforcement officials. Rojas enlisted in the Navy in 2011 and was an electrician’s mate fireman apprentice. In 2012 he served aboard the U.S.S. Carney, a destroyer. He was most recently based at the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, Florida, and was discharged in 2014.
