The debate over freedom of speech in France also intensified at the same time following a decision by authorities to take into custody a controversial comedian, Dieudonné M’bala M’bala, for a Facebook post seemingly sympathetic to one of the Islamist gunmen in last week’s attacks. The comedian was charged with “glorifying a terrorist act.” (Did they just make that one up?)
It's amazing to me that Dieudonne is 'controversial' but Charlie Hebdo is not.
The Afro-French comedian — whose has popularized a Nazi-like salute (name calling) and mocked the Holocaust— suggested that he was a victim of a double standard.
Yah, I would say he is a victim of a double standard! There is nothing "nazi like" about the salute- Ridiculous
“My only goal is to make people laugh, and to laugh at death, since death makes fun of us all, as Charlie very well knows,” he wrote in a second Facebook post. He concluded by saying, “They consider me to be Amedy Coulibaly when I am no different from a Charlie.”
