De-Manufacturing Consent- The Iguala Massacre: Why Were 43 Mexican Students Disappeared?

Guillermo Jimenez Presents Andalusia Knoll
On this edition of De-Manufacturing Consent: Guillermo is joined by freelance journalist Andalusia Knoll. We discuss the suspected massacre of students from the Raúl Isidro Burgos Rural Teachers College of Ayotzinapa in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. Andalusia clears up much of the misinformation within the US and international press on what actually took place, and explains the potential reasons why police and drug cartel members would collude to target, ambush, and kidnap these students.
We also discuss the corrupt ties between drug cartels in the region and Iguala city officials, including the mayor and police chief, and how this incident fits in to the larger picture of Mexico’s US-led drug war.
